The Valle di Ledro Park by the Čekalíkovský Pond is a new green oasis of peace in Příbram
The town of Příbram can boast a new feature in the form of a picturesque park at Čekalíkovský Pond, which is another part of the Green Spine of the town. The grand opening of the park will take place on Saturday, 27 May at 3 pm.
A pleasant place to relax
The park is a pleasant place in a natural atmosphere located in the centre of the town, dominated by the Čekalíkovský pond. The park offers a variety of rather quiet activities. Dozens of trees and shrubs have been planted which will provide shade and protection from the sun, but also contribute to biodiversity. In addition, the park offers walks along carefully landscaped dirt paths and trails that are suitable for families and seniors. For children, a modern playground has been built, equipped with fun play elements. Young visitors can enjoy playing on swinging boats, earth trampolines, a climbing wall, balancing poles for crossing and other attractions. The park also offers comfortable seating to relax. Visitors will find benches, rocking chairs, and a gazebo that is great for picnics and gathering with friends. A barefoot trail is a highlight.
The more than a hundred-year-old bond between Příbram and the Italian Valle di Ledre
The park is a reference to the shared history of the town of Příbram and the Italian Valle di Ledra, which dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. The Austrian authorities immediately ordered the evacuation of 75,000 civilians from Trident to the safer interior of the monarchy. This included about three thousand women, children and elderly people from the Alpine valley near Lake Ledro. On 25 May 1915, trains brought the emigrants to Pribram. About 400 arrived. Despite the initial distrust of the locals, the Ledrenskis were eventually well received thanks to their hard work, modesty and piety. After their return to their homeland, the Ledrenskis often reminisced about their welcome. Some Czech and Italian families have maintained friendships even after more than a hundred years. In Ledru, Czech recipes have even been passed down from generation to generation, such as how to cook Czech dumplings and pancakes.
The mountain valley of Valle di Ledro
Valle di Ledro is located in northern Italy in the province of Trento in the Trentino-Alto Adige region in the Garda Mountains above the town of Riva del Garda. It is a very popular tourist destination with a beautiful unspoilt countryside that offers many sporting, hiking and cultural activities.
