Svatá Hora in the spotlight twice in September
Svatá Hora is an important Marian pilgrimage site and an architectural pearl of the early Baroque in Příbram. In the month of September, two exceptional events will take place here, which will present this spiritual place in a different light - the Příbramská svatohorská šalmaj and Svatohorské stairs 2023 - 343 steps for creativity.
Do you know what a "shalmai" is? A shalmaj is a wooden wind instrument, but when we say Příbramská svatohorská shalmaj, we mean a day-long event where you can enjoy history, theatre, period music, dance, crafts, in short, a day full of activities for the whole family.
The sixteenth edition of the Příbram Svatohorská šalmaja will take place on Saturday 9 September. On this day, the traditional period parade will start at 9.30 a.m. from T. G. Masaryk Square towards Svatá Hora. At 10.15 a.m., this day-long event will begin in the courtyard of Svatohora and will end at night with a traditional performance by the Příbram band Ginevra.
Throughout the day, thanks to the selection of the programme, we will be able to go back several centuries, there will be swordsmen, period music, dance, theatre, a medieval marketplace, cuisine, a medieval camp with period games, craft workshops or, for example, a school of Renaissance dance. Children can also enjoy the popular sock battle.
The second event to which we invite you is the art happening Svatohorské stairs 2023 - 343 steps for creativity.
Since the 17th century, the Svatohorské stairs have connected the town of Příbram with Svatá Hora. Such a staircase is absolutely unique in Bohemia, a similar covered staircase can be found closest in Passau, Germany. On Saturday, 23 September, the stairs will come alive with culture. There will be photographs, collages, paintings, sculptures, music and relaxation in the adjacent St. The art exhibits will be illuminated, giving the whole area an ambient and totally unique character.
