Nature trails
On your walks and hikes you can wander through nature and learn something new at the same time. Some of the nature trails in Příbram will take you through the city's forest parks and the Podbrdská landscape, while others will introduce you to important historical events.
1. FOR NATURE AND HISTORICAL PAST
The first of Příbram's forest parks is located below Březové Hory, where the Litavka river flows through a picturesque valley. In many romantic corners there are rare pools, mysterious wetlands and flowering meadows, in places where silver and other metals were mined and processed many centuries ago.
The Litavka Forest Park Nature Trail includes a total of twelve stops, during which you will learn many interesting facts about the rich flora and fauna here. Children will also find something to enjoy, as they can perform various fun tasks during the journey. The starting point of the trail is the parking lot at the football stadium of the 1st FK Příbram, or in the opposite direction, the settlement with Vysoká Pec by the Vysokopecký pond.
2. YEAR IN THE FOREST
Within sight of Svatá Hora, one of the most prominent landmarks of Příbram, rises the peak of Padák with the second Příbram forest park. The wooded slopes here are a quiet island of nature not far from the city centre. And you can learn more about what the forest looks like and how it works throughout the calendar year with another nature trail.
TheParachute Nature Trail is made up of eleven stops that will introduce you to the functions of the landscape and the forest in the ecosystem, teach you to identify annual rings or to identify deciduous and coniferous trees. Thanks to the play and educational elements, the Parachute Forest Park with its nature trail is also ideal for parents with young children.
3. NEXT TO THE PLACE OF MIRACLES, HORRORS HAVE HAPPENED
There are sad chapters in Czech history that should not be forgotten. One such period is commemorated by the educational trail Following the Footsteps of Political Prisoners, which takes you from Svatá Hora to the War Memorial. There was a prison complex there, which served as a forced labour camp after 1949. Until 1961 it functioned as a prison for political opponents of the communist regime.
The educational trail In the Footsteps of Political Prisoners contains seven information panels and introduces you to specific places and stories of political prisoners. The trail also offers several eye-catching views of the hilly area between the Brda and the middle Vltava River.
