The foundation stone of the new building was laid on 1 May 1957. The whole complex, which includes two theatre stages, a stage hall and a cinema, was built according to the design of Ing. arch. Václav Hilský.
Two years later, on 12 September 1959, the building was completed. The first season opened with a performance of Goldoni's "La Laguna Popraska", although the production was still staged in the Sokolovna.
The new House of Culture was inaugurated two months later on 8 November 1959. On this occasion, the theatre staged the gala premiere of František Pavlíček's play "Labyrinth of the Heart", directed by the first director Antonín Dvořák. The town of Příbram was thus promoted to the category of towns with a permanent theatre stage.
During the 60 years of its existence, the acting company has seen a number of personalities, such as Radoslav Brzobohatý, Miroslav Zounar, Jan Vala, Pavel Nový and Jana Březinová.
Currently, the A. Dvořák Příbram Theatre has a fifteen-member artistic ensemble. The current director, Petr Bednář, is the ninth in the order.
On 29 June 2006, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic included the entire building among cultural monuments.
D-Club (theatre club of the A. Dvořák Theatre Příbram)
The D-Club theatre club is located in the premises of the A. Dvořák Theatre (on the side of the theatre building, about 20 metres from the exit from the cinema) and functions as another cultural scene of the Příbram cultural centre. It offers at least once a month some artistic performances, mainly concerts or very intimate theatre performances.
