The varied landscape in the shadow of Brda provided people with raw materials and livelihood.

ThePodbrdské Museum in Rožmital pod Třemšínem shows what life used to be like here and what customs and traditions used to accompany it. Separate exhibitions are also dedicated to Queen Johanna of Rožmital and Jakub Jan Ryb, two important personalities from Rožmital. One of the crafts that found an important application in the Podbrd region was ironwork. For example, Starý Rožmitál was famous for the production of small iron objects, especially studs, the history of which is now shown in the unique Cvokařské Museum.

Dobříš, on the other hand, was famous for the production of gloves, so the Dobříš Museum will introduce you to the secrets of the glove-making craft.

The Central Povltava region is also remarkable for its preserved rural architecture. The museum in Vysoké Chlumec preserves residential, farm, technical and small sacral buildings, which will introduce you to village life and farming.

TheŠpýchar Museum in Prostřední Lhota will take you closer to the life of the rural population of the Central Povltava region in the 19th to 20th centuries. During your wanderings in this area, do not miss the Museum of Gold in Nový Knín, which presents the history of gold mining and processing in the Novoknín region.
